Amazon Rainforest Adopt-A-School Program
Preserving the rainforest, one child at a time.
Make A Donation
The Adopt-A-School program provides educational materials and supplies for the schools in rural Amazonia through donations from individuals, schools and organizations in the United States and around the world. Since 1999, the Detroit Zoological Society has partnered with Conservacion de la Naturaleza Amazonica del Peru (CONAPAC) in this conservation and educational program.
One hundred percent of all donations made to the Adopt-A-School program are used by CONAPAC to purchase school supplies in Iquitos, Peru, thus supporting the local economy, reducing purchasing costs and eliminating shipping costs. Donations are also used to fund workshops that help teachers and community leaders promote sustainable lifestyles to protect the natural resources of the Amazon rainforest.
Support a School
You can make a difference in the lives of school children by donating a year’s worth of school supplies for $450. The government provides a school building and teacher but supplies for the classroom and children are an impossible financial burden for most families. Your donation allows the children to achieve a basic education and help protect the amazing natural resources of the Amazon rainforest.
Support a Student
You can support an individual child by providing him or her a year’s worth of school supplies for $55. The government provides a school building and teacher but supplies for the children are an impossible financial burden for most families. Your donation allows a child to achieve a basic education and help protect the amazing natural resources of the Amazon rainforest.
