Archive: Eye-catching Art on Exhibit at Detroit Zoo
May 22, 2015
When visitors enter the exhibit gallery of the Detroit Zoo’s Ford Education Center, they may feel as if all eyes are upon them. The “Souls of Friends” exhibition – a display of 23 water-color paintings focused on animal eyes – features artwork by students from Allen Park High School.
The collection of paintings focuses on the expressive eyes of a variety of animals, capturing the spirit of cheetahs, giraffes, otters, snow owls, hedgehogs and other species. The intention of the exhibit is to raise awareness of animal welfare and conservation by bringing Zoo guests eye to eye with wildlife.
The “Souls of Friends” exhibition is on display through June 20, 2015, and is free with Zoo admission.
