The Detroit Zoological Society (DZS) will host its third annual Wildlife Conservation Gala, presented by Ford Motor Company, on Saturday, March 16, 2019, 6-9:30 p.m. Held at the Detroit Zoo’s iconic Wildlife Interpretive Gallery, the event will include hors d’oeuvres, cocktails, a sit-down dinner and raffle.

Themed “Saving Birds Around the World”, the gala will include a presentation highlighting the DZS’s extensive field work with penguins in the Falkland Islands and Antarctica, as well as long-term work in the Great Lakes region with piping plovers and other avian species.

“The DZS has a long history of leading and supporting a number of bird conservation programs throughout the world as well as right here in Michigan,” said DZS Executive Director and CEO Ron Kagan. “We think it’s important to take care of all birds, not just those that reside on our two campuses, and we invite the community to join us in conserving birds and their wild habitats.”

During the gala, the DZS will announce the 2019 recipient of the Nautilus Award, given to an individual whose efforts have made a profound impact on the future of wildlife and embody the DZS’s mission of Celebrating and Saving Wildlife.

Tickets for the 21-and-older, cocktail-attire Wildlife Conservation Gala start at $250 for individual admission with several levels of support available, including various tiers of sponsorship.
