ROYAL OAK, Mich.,
The Detroit Zoological Society (DZS) is inviting all Canadians to gather up their loonies and toonies and head across the border for a day of fun at the Detroit Zoo this Victoria Day.
On Monday, May 23, the Detroit Zoo will bring back its Victoria Day celebration for the first time since 2019. In honor of Canadian sovereignty, the Detroit Zoo will accept Canadian currency at par value throughout the holiday. Guests can receive par value on Zoo admissions, parking, concessions, rides and attractions, gift shop purchases, stroller rentals and Zoo memberships.
Not only will those using Canadian currency receive an exchange rate discount, but all guests will also be able to enjoy special activities taking place at the Zoo on Victoria Day. Animal care staff have a day of Canadian-themed programs and animal enrichments planned.
“We are thrilled to once again be celebrating our neighbors and their national holiday,” said Randi Hamilton, director of guest relations for the DZS. “Victoria Day is a beloved tradition here at the Zoo that we have all missed these last few years, and we can’t wait to offer a warm welcome to Canadian guests at the wildest place this side of the border.”
Par value acceptance of Canadian currency applies to cash transactions only. For more information, contact [email protected].
