Archive: Detroit Zoo Heats Up for Wild Summer Nights

ROYAL OAK, Mich.,
The Detroit Zoo gets even wilder on Wednesdays during July and August with the annual Wild Summer Nights concert series, presented by Genisys Credit Union. Concerts take place in the Main Picnic Grove from 6:30 to 8 p.m. July 6 through Aug. 31, 2016, and are free with Zoo admission.
Wild Summer Nights features a variety of music from local bands, including children’s, pop, jazz, country, rock and classical. Guests are welcome to bring blankets, lawn chairs and picnic baskets; outside alcoholic beverages are prohibited. Food, snacks, beer, wine and soft drinks are available for purchase from Zoo concessions.

- July 6 – The Sun Messengers (Motown, R&B)
- July 13 – Ms. Paula and the Candy Bandits (children’s)
- July 20 – Bernadette Kathryn and the Lonely Days Band (country)
- July 27 – Michigan Opera Theatre (classical)
- Aug. 3 – Randy Kaplan (children’s)
- Aug. 10 – Cosmic Groove (pop)
- Aug. 17 – Mr. Seley and the Troublemakers (children’s)
- Aug. 24 – The Euphorics (pop)
- Aug. 31 – The Verve Pipe (rock)
Admission prices are reduced to $6 for all guests after 6 p.m. on Wednesdays in July and August; members are admitted free. The Zoo remains open until 8 p.m.
