December 2, 2015
ROYAL OAK, Mich.,
Fans of the Detroit Zoo’s Wild Lights have the opportunity to show that their hometown zoo’s spectacular holiday light display is the best of the best. USA Today’s 10Best Readers’ Choice Awards has selected the Detroit Zoo as a contender in its Best Zoo Lights contest.
Twenty zoos throughout the country are in contention for the top spot, leaving the final decision to the public. Wild Lights fans can vote every day – and on multiple devices – through 12 noon on Dec. 21 at http://www.10best.com/awards/travel/best-zoo-lights/wild-lights-at-the-detroit-zoo-detroit/.
“Wild Lights is a breathtaking and magical experience. To have the community vote their zoo’s light display into the No. 1 spot would be a wonderful way to top off the holiday season,” said Ron Kagan, Detroit Zoological Society executive director and CEO.
Wild Lights, presented by Bank of America, features five million LED lights illuminating buildings, trees and more than 100 animal sculptures along a path through the front half of the Detroit Zoo. The event also includes the Polar Plunge snow slide, ice sculptures, carousel rides, live entertainment, arts and crafts, a life-sized gingerbread house, photos with Santa Claus (through Dec. 23) and the Wildlife Photographer of the Year exhibition. Wild Lights is held on select nights through Dec. 31.
