As Executive Director/CEO of the Detroit Zoological Society, Ron Kagan demonstrated a profound commitment to wildlife and wild places. He is known throughout the world for his pioneering actions to advance the welfare of animals.

Under Ron’s leadership, DZS established the Center for Zoo and Aquarium Animal Welfare and Ethics to advance exotic animal welfare science and policy. Today, the Center is a vital resource for professionals and is helping animals everywhere to live their best lives.
